Why It Doesn't Matter If Your Blog Writer Has Experience in Your Industry

You’ve finally admitted it: you either don’t have time to blog for your business, or you simply don’t want to. And let me just say, both of those reasons are very valid. You’re building a creative business, you’re wearing a thousand hats, and writing blog posts that are strategic, SEO-rich, and aligned with your brand voice might not exactly be your idea of a good time.

So maybe you’re considering hiring a blog writer (hi, it’s me 👋🏼), but you have some very real, very understandable questions:

  • Will it be obvious that I didn’t write the posts myself?

  • Do they need to be an expert in my industry to write valuable blogs?

  • How can they write about a wedding or a design project or a session they weren’t even part of?

These are the exact kinds of questions I love answering because once you hear how it works, it all makes perfect sense.

Let’s start with the big one: "Will it be obvious I’m not writing it?"

Short answer? No. Long answer? Not unless you want it to be.

When I write blog posts for my clients, I spend a ridiculous amount of time putting on their voice like a cozy, perfectly broken-in sweatshirt. I read through their Instagram captions. I binge their stories. I scroll their website and their existing blogs. Basically, I immerse myself in their brand until my internal monologue starts sounding like them.

Once the blog copy is ready, my clients get to review and approve it - always. They can leave edits in the doc or send me notes via email or right in the Google doc, whatever works for them. Nothing gets posted until they give it the green light. And the longer we work together, the fewer edits they need to make. Most of my clients end up saying, “Wow, this sounds exactly like me.” (Because it does.)

"But do you need to have experience in my industry to write good blogs?"

Actually? No. And honestly, it’s kind of better if your blog writer doesn’t.

Hear me out: I don’t need to be an expert in your industry. You already are. What I am an expert in is blogging, SEO, content structure, and writing for the reader you want to attract.

And more often than not, your ideal reader is not another photographer or designer or planner. It’s a potential client who probably has no idea what "film presets" or "brand discovery sessions" are.

So the fact that I come in without insider knowledge? That actually helps me write in a way that speaks clearly and directly to the person you’re trying to reach. I know what questions they’re asking, what they’re Googling, and what kind of content will make them trust you.

You provide the details through a quick, custom questionnaire for each blog post - I take it from there and shape it into something strategic, approachable, and in your voice.

"How can someone write a blog post about a session or event they weren’t part of?"

It all comes down to that magical little thing I just mentioned: my blog questionnaires.

I create one for every blog post topic, tailored specifically to that client and that piece of content. You fill it out once, and I get everything I need to structure the post, pull out the details, and write it in a way that feels like you were sitting down with a cup of coffee (or Coke Zero in my case) and wrote it yourself.

Sometimes I follow up with one or two extra questions, but that’s rare. The questionnaire + your final approval are the only things on your to-do list. I handle the rest.

You’re hiring a blog writer to take things off your plate - so let me.

From topic curation to uploading the final post on your website, I make the entire blogging process as hands-off as possible. Picking your topics from my curated list, filling out your questionnaires, and approving copy? That takes less than an hour total each month.

In return, you get blog posts that:

  • Sound like you

  • Speak to your dream clients

  • Help your website get found in search

  • Free up your time

Hiring a blog writer shouldn’t be more work than doing it yourself. That’s why I built my process to work with your life, not against it.

So no, I haven’t photographed a wedding or designed a brand identity or planned a luxury elopement.

But I can write the blog post that makes someone fall in love with your work and want to hire you.

And that’s kind of the whole point, isn’t it?
